Brussels announced that ChatGPT, the artificial intelligence chatbot developed by OpenAI, has a four-month deadline to comply with the additional obligations provided for in the European regulation for digital services. This decision comes within the framework of the application of the Digital Services Regulation in the European Union.
The European Commission has also extended scrutiny to other technological platforms. Reddit and Roblox have also become subject to these rules, which means that these companies will have to comply with stricter obligations regarding transparency, content moderation and digital responsibility.
The regulation in question establishes a set of requirements that large technological platforms must follow to guarantee a safer and more transparent digital environment for European users. The companies in question now face pressure to adapt their operations to European standards within the established deadline.
