An 18-year-old woman was punished by the manager of a bar in Bangkok, Thailand, after claiming she had no money to pay a bill of approximately R$9,400. The young woman allegedly used a fake ID to enter the establishment and ordered several expensive drinks. When the bill arrived, she said she had no way to pay. The incident occurred on August 25.
Instead of calling the police, the manager made the young woman sign what was described as a "hair purchase contract," in which she agreed to sell her hair to pay off the debt. The manager then shaved her head. The punishment was recorded on video and went viral on social media in Thailand.
Chalida Phalamat, founder of the Pen Nueng Foundation, criticized the bar's action, stating that the establishment went "too far" and that the manager "acted out of anger and impulsiveness." She argued that a contract signed under such pressure is void and that shaving someone's head against their will may constitute a crime.
