A 20-year-old man was arrested in Évora on suspicion of psychological and physical abuse against his 23-year-old ex-partner. The suspect is charged with the aggravated crime of domestic violence against women, including controlling and stalking behaviors after the separation.
According to the Public Prosecutor's Office, since at least August 2025, the defendant repeatedly engaged in abuse against the victim. After the de facto separation in November 2025, he allegedly began intense controlling and stalking conduct, particularly through social media and other means of communication.
Given the escalation of coercive behavior and the risk of very intense victimization, the Public Prosecutor's Office ordered the issuance of arrest warrants outside of flagrante delicto, which occurred on Thursday. On Friday, the defendant was brought before the first judicial interrogation.
Several precautionary measures were imposed, including a prohibition on approaching the victim and places she frequents within a 500-meter perimeter, monitored by an electronic bracelet. The detainee was also required to undergo psychological counseling to control behaviors that favor the commission of the crime. Investigations continue under the direction of the DIAP of Évora, with support from the PSP.
