The public polytechnic institutes bore approximately 38 million euros in additional costs without receiving the compensation provided by the Ministry of Education. The amount in question results from changes in performance evaluation and the unfreezing of teaching careers, which generated expenses not compensated by the government.
At least four higher education polytechnic institutions face significant financial difficulties due to this situation. The difficulties manifest in the hiring of teachers and the acquisition of equipment necessary for the operation of the institutions.
The Ministry of Education has not yet commented on the situation nor presented a plan to resolve the payment of the amounts owed to public polytechnics.
