A British poll revealed that more than 80% of young people under 25, belonging to the so-called "generation Z", admitted to missing work without being sick. These young people confessed to justified absence from work without presenting any health problem.
However, despite this trend, the study data indicate that sick leave is actually higher among older workers. In other words, although generation Z young people miss work more frequently, it is workers from previous generations who show higher rates of absenteeism for health reasons.
The study was conducted in the United Kingdom and covered different age groups of the working population, allowing for the comparison of absenteeism behaviors between generations. This research sheds light on generational differences in workplace absenteeism habits.
