A confidential report prepared by the Pentagon warned the United States Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, that prolonging large-scale operations against Iran is unsustainable and puts America's military capability to face threats in other regions at risk, including on American territory.
According to sources who spoke to The Washington Post on condition of anonymity, the warnings were made by senior military commanders, including the heads of the US Army, Navy, and Air Force.
The same military chiefs, along with commanders overseeing US operations in Europe, Asia, and Latin America, specified the warnings in the August 14 edition of the Secretary of Defense's Order Book, an internal Pentagon document.
