Madalena Cabaço, a young handball player from Salvaterra de Magos, made her debut this Saturday, August 29th, for Sport Lisboa e Benfica's women's main team. The 18-year-old player, who started her training at AREPA, took to the field against Feirense, in the first round of the competition, scoring a goal in her first game for the main team.
The athlete from Salvaterra de Magos thus had the opportunity to make the leap from the youth team to the main team of the red and white club, a moment that will be marked in her career. Her debut coincided with the start of the sporting season for Benfica's women's handball team.
Cabaço's achievement represents an example of success in the transition of young talents to the senior level, something that Benfica has invested in the development of its women's handball teams. The young player demonstrated she is prepared for the pace and demands of elite Portuguese handball.
