The United Arab Emirates Air Force intercepted this Monday, August 31, an Iranian drone over its territorial waters, according to the Ministry of Defense in a brief statement.
The incident occurred after American forces had attacked the Iranian island of Larak, in the first military action by the United States against Tehran in about a month. The United States Central Command (Centcom) explained that the precision strike targeted two rocket launch pads loaded with naval mines, which Tehran was preparing to launch in the Strait of Hormuz, representing, according to Centcom, an imminent threat in that waterway.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard responded with an attack against two American bases in Jordan, Al Azraq and King Hussein, causing, according to the Iranian statement, major damage. The attack was carried out with missiles and drones, in retaliation for the American bombing of Larak.
The Jordanian Army confirmed having intercepted eight missiles in its airspace through its air defense systems, reporting no casualties or damage.
