Santa Mônica Rede de Ensino made history in beach volleyball at the 44th edition of Intercolegial O GLOBO/Sesc, held at Sesc Nova Iguaçu. On Saturday (29), the school won its first women's title in the sport, and on Sunday (30), secured the pentachampionship in the men's category, returning to the highest spot on the podium.
In both finals, Santa Mônica defeated Pedro II by 2 sets to 0. The competition was restricted to the under-18 non-federated category. Intercolegial is organized by GLOBO, with sponsorship from Sesc-RJ and support from Afya.
In the women's division, Loide Martha opened the competition with a victory over Meninos da Luz by 2 to 0, while Santa Mônica defeated Luz do Saber by the same score. CTUR also beat Geo Félix by 2 to 0, and Pedro II defeated Loide Martha by 2 to 0.
