Portugal finished on Sunday at the World Sprint and Paracanoe Championships, held in Poznan, Poland, between August 26 and 30, with four medals. Fernando Pimenta was the great highlight by conquering two world titles, becoming champion in the K1 5000m event on the last day of competition, with the time of 24:15.72, after having already won the K1 1000m on Saturday.

In addition to Pimenta's two golds, Portugal achieved two more medals at the World Championships. João Ribeiro and Messias Baptista won silver in the A Final of K2 500m, with the time of 1:29.29, guaranteeing the third Portuguese podium of the competition. The country's fourth medal was bronze.

The president of the Portuguese Canoeing Federation, Ricardo Machado, commented on the results, considering that they confirm the quality of the work developed by the athletes and technical teams. Machado also highlighted the importance of the rankings and points earned for the Olympic objectives, in a cycle where the ranking assumes growing relevance on the path to the Los Angeles 2028 Games.
