The Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic, record holder for most Grand Slam titles with 24 trophies, suffered a major surprise in the first round of the US Open in New York. The player was eliminated by Argentine Mariano Navone after an intense match lasting more than four and a half hours.
Djokovic's defeat, as world number two, happened in five sets, with the final score of 3-2 in favor of the Argentine. This was one of the biggest upsets of the tournament, considering the impressive record of the Serbian champion.
Mariano Navone, 23 years old, is ranked 47th in the ATP ranking and had never defeated a top 5 player in Grand Slam matches. This victory represents the biggest result of the young Argentine's career.
