Carris will present this Monday a new solution for the future of the Gloria Elevator, almost a year after the accident that caused 16 deaths. The presentation takes place on the day that practically marks one year since the disaster that shook the city of Lisbon.
The new project places three fundamental pillars at the center of its concerns: safety, engineering and heritage preservation. These elements will be the main axes of the solution that the transport company will reveal to the public.
The Gloria Elevator is one of Lisbon's historical icons, functioning as a means of transportation and a tourist attraction. Its reconstruction represents a complex challenge that requires balancing modern safety requirements with the maintenance of its historical characteristics.
