Nepal has raised the death toll to 903 following the floods that hit the country. The number of missing persons now exceeds 4,000, representing a significant increase compared to previous figures.
The drastic rise in the count of people with no contact, which went from 2,502 to 4,247 in less than 24 hours, is due to the progressive restoration of communications in the most isolated districts of the country. Many areas that had been cut off began to have access to telephone lines and the internet, allowing authorities to receive more information about victims and those affected.
This natural phenomenon caused widespread destruction, particularly affecting the most remote communities in Nepal. Rescue operations are ongoing, although they are hindered by adverse weather conditions and damage to road infrastructure.
