Flamengo defeated Botafogo 3-0 yesterday at Maracanã, in the 25th round of the Brazilian Championship. Samuel Lino was the highlight of the match, scoring two goals.
After the victory, Flamengo provoked their rival on social media. On X, they posted a scene from the movie Star Wars where Darth Vader reveals being Luke Skywalker's father, with Samuel Lino's image in the background. The caption read "I am your father. Look in your feelings, you know it is true" and "There's no point in crying."
The club also recalled the 6-0 victory against Botafogo in 1981, using the aggregate score between the teams in the 2026 Brasileirão to further provoke their black-and-white rivals.
With the result, Flamengo shortened the distance to leader Palmeiras, who drew in the round. The difference is now four points between the teams.
