More than 20 people were being sought at the Grand Canyon in the United States after a flash flood. The incident occurred in the Phantom Ranch area, a section of the Grand Canyon National Park.

The flood was caused by extremely intense torrential rains. In the vicinity, between one and 2.5 centimeters of rain were recorded in just 30 minutes, which caused a sudden rise in water levels.

Authorities initiated search and rescue operations to locate the affected people. The situation put both visitors and workers in the affected area at risk.

The Grand Canyon is one of the most visited national parks in the United States, receiving millions of tourists annually. Phantom Ranch is a popular area among hikers crossing the park.
