The Municipality of Aveiro promotes between August 28 and September 13, at Rossio, the 50th edition of the Book Fair of Aveiro, celebrating five decades of one of the most emblematic cultural events of the municipality. For 17 days, the city hosts writers, booksellers, readers and families in a special edition that presents a reinforced daily program, integrating literature, music, theater, poetry and activities for different age groups.
The 50th anniversary edition features a higher number of booksellers and dozens of initiatives, including book presentations, conversations with authors, autograph sessions, workshops, shows and exhibitions. Among the confirmed guests are Rodrigo Guedes de Carvalho, João Pinto Coelho, João de Melo, Raúl Minh'alma, Hugo Gonçalves, Maria Francisca Gama, Filipa Martins, Raquel Marinho, Luísa Sobral, José Gardeazabal, Carlos Mendes, Inês Meneses and Tó Zé Brito, among other personalities.
One of the novelties of this edition is the holding of a day dedicated to literary content creators on social networks, bringing together book promoters on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube for conversations about the impact of digital platforms on the promotion of reading. The program also includes the show "How to Draw a House", with Pedro Lamares and Rui David inspired by the poetry of Manuel António Pina, and the recital "Poetic Dialects". For families, there are story time sessions, creative workshops and literary picnics, while the senior audience has traditional dance sessions.
The exhibition "50 editions of the Book Fair of Aveiro" will be inaugurated at the opening, inviting visitors to revisit the history of the event through photographs, posters and documents. The fair operates from Monday to Thursday from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Fridays from 1:00 PM to 11:00 PM, Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM and Sundays from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with free entry.
