Police officers from the Vila Franca de Xira Police Division arrested a 58-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman at the end of last week, as part of a police operation carried out in the municipality. The two suspects were apprehended at their residence, where the PSP discovered a plantation with seven cannabis plants.
During the operation, the authorities also seized two firearms and a small quantity of hashish that were in the couple's possession. The illegal items were confiscated as evidence of the crime.
The police action originated from an investigation into a threat and intimidation incident recorded in a public street, which occurred the day before the arrest. The authorities launched the operation to investigate this threat incident and ended up discovering illicit activities related to the cultivation and trafficking of cannabis.
