King Harald V of Norway died on Friday at the age of 89. The Royal Palace announced today that the monarch's funeral is scheduled for September 9.

The funeral ceremony will take place in Oslo, the capital of the Nordic country.

Harald V was the reigning monarch of Norway for more than three decades, having ascended to the throne in 1991 following the death of his father, King Olav V.
