Brazilian driver Lucas Moraes, 36, from São Paulo, won the 2026 edition of the Rally dos Sertões this Sunday. Current world Rally-Raid champion, Lucas became a four-time champion of the event alongside navigator Kaíque Bentivoglio and the MEM Motorsport team. The victory was confirmed on the eighth and final stage, contested between Goianésia and the Goiânia International Racetrack.
In the final stage, Lucas and Kaíque finished the 146 timed kilometers in second place, with a time of 1h41min25s, finishing just 52 seconds behind Marcos Baumgart, the stage winner. Even so, the accumulated advantage throughout the entire race was enough to secure the title.
Throughout the competition, which totaled 4,020 kilometers of route, the duo secured six wins in eight special stages, in addition to two second-place finishes. The cumulative time of 36h10min11s gave them a lead of over 26 minutes over the second-place finisher.
Lucas celebrated the achievement stating that the title was one of the most special of his career, highlighting the honor of competing in the Sertões as a world champion, something he had always wanted to experience, and that the victory crowned this moment even further.
