The transfer of Allan, a young promise from Palmeiras, to European football was completed during the week. Romário comments that the São Paulo club currently has the best youth academy in Brazil, which is positive for the coffers and the financial planning of the institution, but raises doubts about the impact on Brazilian football as a whole.
The phenomenon of young talent exodus is not new, according to Romário, existing for decades. He himself was sold to PSV at 22 years old, however he already had four seasons playing for the main team of Vasco, with several titles won and experience in the Brazilian national team.
Currently, many players are transferred as soon as they turn 18 years old, some without even having made their professional debut. These kids go to complete their development in Europe, and part of them ends up losing the classic characteristics of the Brazilian player, adapting to the European style of play.
Other players face adaptation difficulties inside and outside the field after the transfer, not being able to play regularly. Without the necessary playing time on the field, these young people are unable to evolve in their development.
