A 'ferry' capsized today off the northern coast of Cyprus and completely sank at a depth of 514 metres, according to Transport Minister Erhan Arikli on the Turkish television channel TRT.
Minister Erhan Arikli made the statements about the capsizing through the TRT channel, providing information on the ferry's condition after the accident.
According to a post on social media platform X, cited by TRT and the France-Presse news agency, 161 people were taken to hospital and 76 reunited with their families after the capsizing.
The information about the accident was released hours after media outlets began reporting the incident, with authorities providing updates on the condition of the rescued people.
