Two-time world champion Tadej Pogacar abandoned the Vuelta a España on stage 8 due to a fall. The UAE Team Emirates rider retired during the competition.

The sports director of UAE updated the Slovenian rider's health status, indicating that Pogacar could undergo surgery tomorrow.

The injury occurred after a fall during the race, forcing the two-time world champion to leave the competition before the 8th stage concluded.

The operation, if confirmed, will represent a significant setback in the rider's season, as he intended to fight for the overall classification of the Vuelta.
