NASA launched the Nancy Grace Roman telescope, the largest panoramic observatory ever built, aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket to explore the universe. The launch took place at 07:26 US Eastern time, equivalent to 12:26 in Lisbon, from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
The telescope's mission is to explore the universe and search for answers about dark energy, exoplanets, and infrared astrophysics. This observatory represents an important milestone in space astronomy, enabling unprecedented observations of the cosmos.
The mission was highlighted by the Spanish agency EFE, which reported the launch as a significant event for the international scientific community. The Roman telescope promises to significantly expand human knowledge about the structure and evolution of the universe.
