The PS leader, José Luís Carneiro, accused Luís Montenegro of trying to whitewash the chaos in national exams. The accusation arises in the context of problems reported in access to higher education through national exams.

José Luís Carneiro emphasized that only the attempt to whitewash this situation justifies Montenegro having substituted himself for the Education minister to affirm a reality that, according to the socialist leader, does not exist in people's lives.

This criticism is part of the PS's opposition to the PSD/CDS executive, with the socialists pointing out that the prime minister tried to minimize problems that directly affect Portuguese students.

The PS leader, José Luís Carneiro, accused Prime Minister Luís Montenegro of whitewashing "the chaos in exams" at the national secondary level and of "being afraid of the Portuguese people," during a visit to the August Fair in Grândola. Carneiro criticized Montenegro for substituting himself for the Minister of Education to "affirm a reality that doesn't exist," noting that the percentage of candidates who entered higher education decreased compared to previous years. The socialist leader also considered that the prime minister should have thanked the PS for the financing and professional training programs left behind, referring to the situation as a "cuckoo" attitude that takes advantage of others' work. When questioned about Chega's motion of censure, Carneiro did not respond directly, but recalled that the PS awaits responses from the Government on education until September, threatening to proceed with an inquiry committee if he does not obtain responses.
