A boat with approximately 270 people on board shipwrecked in waters near Cyprus. The vessel, which was carrying migrants, shipwrecked in a region of the Eastern Mediterranean.
So far, at least seven people have died as a result of the shipwreck. Cypriot authorities initiated a rescue operation to try to locate survivors.
Details about the passengers' nationalities or the exact causes that led to the shipwreck have not been released. The search continues in the waters where the accident occurred.
