Yuanyuan, Taiwan's oldest panda, celebrated this Sunday her 22nd birthday surrounded by dozens of fans who came for the special occasion. The animal, who is a very beloved figure in the territory, received a great amount of attention and affection from visitors to the park where she lives.
To celebrate the date, the keepers prepared an ice cake made with fruit and vegetables, specially shaped like a train for this celebration. The choice of the train shape appears to have been a surprise specifically designed for the animal's birthday.
The birthday party took place with great enthusiasm, gathering numerous admirers who wanted to share this special moment with the veteran panda. Yuanyuan is considered a very important symbol for Taiwan, both in the context of species conservation and with regard to cultural and diplomatic relations with mainland China, the pandas' country of origin.
