Your child says "cringe", "NPC" or "farmar aura"? Find out what it means

SAPO Notícias30 August 2026 at 13:00

The vocabulary used by children and teenagers is changing at a speed that is difficult for many parents to keep up with. Terms like "cringe", "NPC" or "farmar aura" are part of daily life for young people, but they often remain incomprehensible to adults.

This phenomenon reflects a language in constant evolution, especially on social media and in online environments. Young people create and adapt expressions quickly, which makes it difficult for parents and educators to keep up.

The linguistic disconnection between generations can create barriers in family communication. Many parents feel lost when their children use these terms in everyday conversations, without knowing how to interpret their meaning or context of use.

Understanding these expressions has become essential for adults who want to maintain a close relationship with young people and follow what is happening in their social and digital lives.
