Simeone: "Hjulmand comes from a slower championship"

SAPO Notícias30 August 2026 at 12:44

The Atlético Madrid coach, Diego Simeone, spoke about Morten Hjulmand, the Danish midfielder who was Sporting's captain. Simeone praised the player's abilities, highlighting his competitive ability and passing as strengths.

The Argentine coach mentioned that Hjulmand comes from a slower championship, in an apparent reference to the Portuguese League, suggesting that the transition to La Liga will require an adaptation period to the more intense rhythm of Spanish football.

Hjulmand, in turn, commented that he has a lot of talent and expressed confidence in his abilities to establish himself at the new club. The Danish player joined Atlético Madrid in a transfer from Sporting, where he was an important figure during his time at the Portuguese club.
