Viseu: GNR alerts to increase in scams with 'false accidents'

The Republican National Guard warned about the increase in scams with "false accidents" in the district of Viseu, which is among those with the most cases of this type of crime. The GNR registered 30 complaints of this scam in Portugal in the first half of 2026. Between January and June, the scams caused losses of 72,540 euros to victims, a value close to the 77,480 euros recorded in the previous period. The alert comes within the scope of an awareness campaign by the GNR to alert the population to this type of scams.
