Gonzalo Plata, former Sporting player, landed in Russia to complete the transfer from Flamengo to Dynamo Moscow. The Ecuadorian winger was received at the airport with traditional Russian bread, in a gesture of welcome to his new club.
The negotiation between Flamengo and Dynamo Moscow is very advanced, with only the final signature remaining to make the transfer official. Plata is no longer in the plans of the Brazilian club and the move to the Russian league represents a new stage in his career.
The 24-year-old player left Sporting in 2022, moving to Spanish Valladolid, before heading to Brazilian football. His time at Flamengo may not have been the happiest experience, which may have accelerated his desire to leave the club.
This transfer demonstrates the growing trend of South American players choosing the Russian league as a career destination, benefiting from often lucrative contracts. Dynamo Moscow thus strengthens their attack with a young player with international experience.
