Chinese President Xi Jinping is en route to Kyrgyzstan to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, which kicks off on Monday in the capital Bishkek. This visit marks another moment of diplomatic rapprochement between China and the Central Asian countries.
The presidents of China and Russia, Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin, are the most prominent figures at the leaders' meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The two leaders are expected to meet on the sidelines of this regional summit.
United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres will also be present in Bishkek, participating in the meeting that brings together the main leaders of the Central Asian region and associated countries.
