The Judicial Police is investigating the causes of the fire that broke out last night in the Furneira area, in Jardim da Serra, in Madeira. The fire came close to threatening several dwellings in the area, prompting an urgent response from the civil protection services.
Valter Ferreira, deputy of the Regional Civil Protection Service Command, confirmed to TSF-Madeira that the PJ has already been present at the scene of the fire, designating the investigation into the circumstances in which the fire started as competent.
The authorities are now working to determine the exact causes of the fire, in a process that involves the technical analysis of the site and the collection of evidence that will clarify what caused the fire.
The alert was received by the Regional Operations Command, which triggered the response device, mobilizing resources to combat the flames and protect the threatened dwellings in the Furneira area.
