ADN-Madeira, through Carolina Martins, a veterinarian and member of the party's coordination, proposed the periodic disclosure of aggregated data on reports of animal abuse, abandonment, and animal welfare in the Region. The initiative comes after it was reported that, in 2026, PSP and GNR received only 14 complaints.
The party considers that this number does not reflect the real dimension of the problem, since reports come through various channels and not all of them constitute a crime. The proposal aims to create greater transparency about the situation of animals in the Region.
Carolina Martins, as a veterinarian, brings a technical perspective to this issue, reinforcing the need for more rigorous and transparent monitoring of the animal situation in Madeira.
