Support for aid to minors in Ceuta opened a rift between the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, and the Vox party within the regional government. The decision to vote in favor of sending 25 million euros to the autonomous city generated tension between the two parties of the governing coalition in the region.
The Junta de Andalucía was the only government formed by PP and Vox that participated in the sectoral meetings convened by the Ministry of Childhood to address the migration crisis in Ceuta. Other autonomous communities governed by PP and Vox, such as Aragón, Castilla y León or Extremadura, refused to participate in these meetings with the central Executive.
The government of Juanma Moreno not only attended the meetings but also voted in favor of sending the financial aid. This position was coordinated with the rest of the autonomous communities governed by the PP, although it displeased Vox, which publicly warned that, if it were up to them, the position would have been contrary to this money transfer.
The article anticipates that this situation is only a preview of the first major episode of internal tension between the government partners: the imminent distribution of children, teenagers and minors among the autonomous communities, forced to host them after the reform of the foreigners' law.
