The Rock in Rio Favela Space will feature, starting Friday (the 4th), three daily shows, with artists like Xamã, MC Cabelinho, Timbalada, and Belo. The stage brings together, for the most part, artists who learned to make music with the resources available in their communities. Most of the artists performing at the Favela Space grew up in communities in Rio de Janeiro.

The reporter spoke with MC Carol, Marvvila, Caio Luccas, and GBZ7N to learn more about the stories of these talents. MC Carol is from Niterói and, at 14, lost her great-great-grandfather and the house where she lived on Morro do Preventório, in Charitas. To support herself financially, she started washing cars, carrying construction materials, and working at a pizzeria. At 32, the singer takes the stage at Rock in Rio for the fourth time.

The Favela Space is one of the stages at the festival, which is one of the largest music events in the world. The stage aims to provide visibility to artists who come from communities and favelas, showcasing trajectories of overcoming challenges and talent originating in these communities.
