Sofia Brito Brings "Albufeira – Stories of Our People" to the Senior Population

Jornal do Algarve30 August 2026 at 10:02

The book "Albufeira – Stories of Our People", authored by Ana Sofia Brito, was presented between August 17 and 21 in several social facilities of the municipality of Albufeira, in an initiative by the Municipality that sought to bring the work closer to the senior population and to value memories, experiences, and local traditions.

The presentation tour included the Day Center and Residential Facility for Elderly People at the Olhos d'Água Social Equipment, the two locations of the Parochial Center of Paderne, the Day Center O Roseiral, the ERPI Roseiral, and the António Silva Leal Foundation, at the Lar Nossa Senhora da Visitação in Guia. During the meetings, the author presented the origin and purpose of the work in a亲近 environment that also allowed for the sharing of memories with the participants.

The work originated from a conversation between Ana Sofia Brito and illustrator Guilherme Limão, motivated by a reflection on the importance of memory and its preservation. The book brings together 25 narratives accompanied by illustrations, in a literary and poetic approach that recovers episodes from the life of a community that found in mutual support a way to face difficulties and preserve the dignity of its people.

Ana Sofia Brito is native to Albufeira, an actress and juggler, author of chronicles published in the newspaper 7MARGENS and the Jornal do Algarve, and writes the column "And Speaking of Books..." in Sul Informação. She is also the author of the podcast "Right to a Scream", from FNAC, and the program "Boarding Zone", on Rádio Lagoa.

'Blood Sacrifice' on Netflix: a known formula, but with efficient suspense

"Blood Sacrifice" is a Swedish suspense series available on Netflix that follows the nordic noir formula to the letter, with beautiful urban and rural settings, lesser-known actors, and a crime that breaks the apparent placidity of a civilized society. The plot, conventional and predictable at many moments, doesn't innovate much, but stands out for its good execution, talented cast, and beautiful external sequences filmed in Stockholm. With five episodes ideal for a weekend marathon, the story takes place in late May, taking advantage of the long Scandinavian days, and is recommended by the critic as a well-made production, even without major revolutions in the genre.
