URGENT: Nepal: New toll reports 16 dead and 546 missing in Tibet

At least 16 people died in the Tibet region following a flash flood that occurred on Wednesday. Chinese state media announced this new death toll today.

According to Chinese authorities, 546 people remain missing in the region. The number of missing is significantly higher than the confirmed death toll.

The incident occurred in Tibet, an autonomous territory of China, which frequently faces flooding and inundation episodes during the monsoon season. Wednesday's flash flood is believed to have caused widespread destruction in the region.

This new toll represents an increase from previous numbers and search and rescue operations are ongoing to locate the missing.
