A driver without a driving license crashed during a flight from the Public Security Police, in a violent crash. Authorities believe the driver had consumed alcohol.

The PSP agents tried to intercept the vehicle, but the driver tried to run over the police officers during the flight, putting the agents' safety at risk.

The vehicle ended up crashing and catching fire, but the driver managed to escape the flames. The police managed to rescue the driver from the burning car.

The driver was arrested by the authorities. The vehicle was destroyed by fire and the case is being investigated.

A 44-year-old man, identified as Paulinho, died in the early hours of this Tuesday at Dr Nélio Mendonça Hospital, in Funchal, after being hit by a vehicle the previous evening near Hotel Baía Azul, on Estrada Monumental. The victim was struck by a vehicle around 8 PM, and the driver fled the scene without providing assistance. The man did not survive his serious injuries and died hours later.
