IL wants pension system reform: "What each Portuguese person pays in should remain within a transparent system"

SIC Notícias29 August 2026 at 23:09

Iniciativa Liberal defends a profound reform of the pension system in Portugal. The party leader considers that it is necessary to transform the current model to guarantee greater transparency and financial sustainability.

According to the party's position, each Portuguese person should have clarity about the amount they contributed throughout their working life and about how that money is being managed within the system.

The leader of Iniciativa Liberal accuses the remaining political parties of not demonstrating effective willingness to solve what she considers to be a structural problem of the country regarding pensions.

The party presents this proposal as an alternative to current policies, sustaining that the system must be clearer and more predictable for Portuguese taxpayers.
