Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam recorded the most commercial flights in the European Union in 2025, with around 488,000 operations. Paris-Charles de Gaulle came in second with 476,000 flights and Frankfurt/Main in third with 457,000, according to Eurostat data. The ranking includes scheduled and non-scheduled flights, such as charter flights and special operations.

Across the European Union, 6.9 million commercial flights were carried out in 2025, 3.8% more than the previous year. This figure is close to the 7 million flights recorded in 2019, before the pandemic, confirming the recovery of European air traffic.

The summer months were the busiest, with August recording 693,046 flights and July 690,855. June was also among the periods of highest traffic, with 648,707 flights.

Among the ten main airports, Athens had the highest proportion of non-scheduled operations, at 5.2%, followed by Madrid-Barajas at 4.8% and Copenhagen-Kastrup at 4.1%. Non-scheduled flights represented 8.5% of total commercial operations in the European Union in 2025.

Trump closes the immigration tap and American fast food begins to feel the lack of customers

The restrictive immigration policies adopted in the United States are deeply affecting the fast food industry, with customer traffic declining in almost every month of 2025 and 2026. According to the Financial Times and the Brookings Institution, net immigration was negative for the first time in at least half a century, with nearly three million people leaving the country. This data is particularly relevant for the sector since 35% of Hispanics in the US consume fast food daily. Companies like McDonald's, Wendy's and Subway have already started adjusting their expansion plans, with the burger chain slowing new openings and the other two closing hundreds of establishments. Jack in the Box and Wingstop also attributed the sales decline to reduced consumption among Latino customers, suggesting that part of the industry may have bet on population growth that is no longer occurring.
