Cuba bets on talha wine and Cante to establish itself as a tourist destination in the Alentejo

The municipality of Cuba, in the Alentejo, has launched a new communication and tourism promotion strategy to reinforce its position on the tourism map of the region. The initiative is based on launching a periodic newsletter exclusively dedicated to the municipality's offering, which is being distributed in a first phase to tourism animation companies and tourism services from various municipalities.

The strategy places particular attention on talha wine, traditional cellars and taverns, gastronomy, and Alentejo Cante, seeking to enhance authenticity as a tourism differentiation factor. In Vila Alva, one of the municipality's parishes, ancient vineyards and several cellars remain where artisanal production of talha wine continues to thrive, a tradition that has been used to develop experiences for visitors.

The main objective is to bring national tour operators closer to the territory and encourage the creation of itineraries and programs that include Cuba, countering the logic of a transit territory. The City Council intends to increase the capacity to attract visitors interested in experiences related to wine, gastronomy, culture, heritage, and Alentejo landscape.

This bet complements the municipality's presence at national and international tourism events, such as the Lisbon Tourism Exchange (BTL) and FITUR in Madrid, where it has promoted the municipality and its local products. With the new tool, Cuba seeks to maintain this promotion throughout the year and establish a more direct relationship with professionals capable of integrating the municipality into tourism circuits.

Trump closes the immigration tap and American fast food begins to feel the lack of customers

The restrictive immigration policies adopted in the United States are deeply affecting the fast food industry, with customer traffic declining in almost every month of 2025 and 2026. According to the Financial Times and the Brookings Institution, net immigration was negative for the first time in at least half a century, with nearly three million people leaving the country. This data is particularly relevant for the sector since 35% of Hispanics in the US consume fast food daily. Companies like McDonald's, Wendy's and Subway have already started adjusting their expansion plans, with the burger chain slowing new openings and the other two closing hundreds of establishments. Jack in the Box and Wingstop also attributed the sales decline to reduced consumption among Latino customers, suggesting that part of the industry may have bet on population growth that is no longer occurring.
