The president of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque, once again defended golf as the main bet to combat tourism seasonality in Porto Santo. The statements were made on the sidelines of the inauguration of Frutimade's first fruit and vegetable store, in the Penedo area, on the island of Porto Santo. Albuquerque highlighted the good moment the island is going through, with a tourist influx considered "considerable" throughout the summer, which is already extending into the month of September. During the visit to Frutimade's new store, the official highlighted the importance of the tourism sector for the local economy, also referring to the dynamics of hotels and restaurants in the region. The text indicates that the bet on golf continues to be presented as a strategy to boost the low season and attract more visitors to the island.
