Going to study far from home? There's a platform that helps you find housing

DECO PROteste launched today the platform querocasa.pt, a tool designed to help students who are going to study far from home find accommodation. The platform works as a single point of information, gathering data from various sources in one place.

The main objective of the platform is to make house hunting easier for students, consolidating information that was previously scattered. Through querocasa.pt, users have access to all the information provided by schools and municipalities about accommodation availability.

The platform allows students to compare the conditions, prices and availability of different accommodations. This way, young people can make more informed decisions about where to live during the academic period, without having to consult multiple sources.

Von der Leyen wants to turn Europe's economic game around: less bureaucracy, more industry and European capital

The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, presented in Paris a strategy to place competitiveness at the center of the European Union's economic agenda, aiming to address weak growth, high costs and international competition. The plan includes reducing bureaucracy by 25% for businesses and 35% for SMEs by 2029, creating "EU Inc." to set up companies online for less than 100 euros, and the so-called Savings and Investment Union, which could unlock up to 470 billion euros in additional investment. The Commission also plans to mobilize 20 billion euros for artificial intelligence factories, 30 billion for industrial projects from 2027, and more than 100 billion through the Industrial Decarbonization Bank. Von der Leyen also warned about the growing trade deficit with China, approaching one billion euros per day, advocating for an open Europe to trade, but with greater attention to reciprocity.

Public consultation of the National Energy Storage Strategy starts on Saturday

The Portuguese Government opened today the public consultation phase of the National Energy Storage Strategy, which will run for 20 days on the Participa.pt platform. The strategy, developed based on studies by INESC-TEC and Instituto Superior Técnico, aims to store energy through batteries and pumped hydro to address energy deficit periods, achieve greater sovereignty and stabilize prices. The document presents different scenarios for the horizons 2026-2030 and 2026-2040, with the objective of reducing the need for energy imports and integrating more renewable energy. The Minister of Environment and Energy, Maria da Graça Carvalho, highlighted that storage is essential to take advantage of renewable energies, allowing energy to be stored when there is excess solar or wind production and used during periods of higher demand.
