This Chinese brand is worth more than 150 billion dollars and is not a bank

SAPO Notícias29 August 2026 at 16:02

ByteDance, owner of TikTok, became China's most valuable brand, exceeding 153 billion dollars in brand value. This value places the tech company ahead of giants in the energy, banking, and technology sectors.

The growth of ByteDance's brand value reflects the global expansion of its platforms, especially TikTok, which has gained millions of users worldwide. The company has invested significantly in artificial intelligence and market expansion.

This milestone represents a significant shift in the Chinese business landscape, where traditionally banks and state-owned enterprises dominated brand value rankings. ByteDance achieved this position through technological innovation and the ability to create platforms that attract global audiences.

ByteDance's achievement comes in a context of growing technological competition between China and other countries, where the country's tech companies have sought to establish themselves internationally. The brand demonstrates how Chinese digital platforms can compete at the highest global level.

Von der Leyen wants to turn Europe's economic game around: less bureaucracy, more industry and European capital

The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, presented in Paris a strategy to place competitiveness at the center of the European Union's economic agenda, aiming to address weak growth, high costs and international competition. The plan includes reducing bureaucracy by 25% for businesses and 35% for SMEs by 2029, creating "EU Inc." to set up companies online for less than 100 euros, and the so-called Savings and Investment Union, which could unlock up to 470 billion euros in additional investment. The Commission also plans to mobilize 20 billion euros for artificial intelligence factories, 30 billion for industrial projects from 2027, and more than 100 billion through the Industrial Decarbonization Bank. Von der Leyen also warned about the growing trade deficit with China, approaching one billion euros per day, advocating for an open Europe to trade, but with greater attention to reciprocity.

Values of the proposal presented by Al Ittihad to Benfica for Leandro Barreiro revealed

Al Ittihad presented a proposal of 14 million euros fixed, plus 2 million in objectives, for Luxembourg international midfielder Leandro Barreiro, but Benfica quickly rejected the offer. The red-and-white club has reportedly informed that they will only accept to negotiate if the Saudi club presents a higher investment. Al Ittihad's interest gains relevance due to the connection of Jens Wissing, current coach of the Arabic team, who was an assistant to Roger Schmidt at Benfica and knows the player well from that time. Barreiro has been one of Marco Silva's regular picks at the start of the season.
