SNS with 10.77 million registered users, family doctor coverage is 87%

The Portuguese National Health Service currently has 10.77 million registered users. This number represents the population that has access to primary healthcare through the SNS.

According to the data presented, 98% of users registered in primary healthcare meet the conditions to be assigned a family doctor. However, despite meeting the necessary requirements, the effective family doctor coverage rate is only 87%.

This disparity between eligible users and actual coverage means that a significant portion of the population, although meeting the criteria for having a family doctor, still does not effectively have this service in primary healthcare.
