The president of the National Data Protection Agency (ANPD), Waldemar Gonçalves Ortunho Junior, gave an interview to GLOBO after the sanctions applied to Discord and TikTok in recent days. In the conversation, he stated that the sanction decisions should serve as a warning so that other platforms don't wait to suffer the same measures before taking action.

According to Ortunho Junior, the enforcement actions show that the regulatory agency's dialogue with the major technology companies "has a limit." The statement indicates a firmer stance by ANPD regarding compliance with data protection rules by digital platforms.

The sanctions applied to Discord and TikTok represent recent enforcement actions by the agency. The president emphasized that companies need to act proactively to comply with regulations, rather than waiting for punitive measures.

Social Security will verify the income of those receiving this support and may access this data

Social Security will verify the income of beneficiaries of the new Single Social Benefit (PSU) not only at the time of assignment but also during annual renewal, and may also carry out additional checks whenever there are signs of changes in income. The regulation, published in the Official Gazette through Order No. 394/2026/1, allows data interconnection between Social Security and the tax administration, as well as access to banking information with the beneficiary's authorization. The consequences of verification may result in the review of the amount, rejection, or cessation of support. Renewal will be done automatically by the responsible institution. The PSU consolidates 13 non-contributory social benefits, including Social Integration Income, unemployment benefits, and social pensions, and takes effect from December 31, 2026.
