The love strawberry, made with the fruit covered in a layer of white fudge wrapped in a hard shell of red-colored caramel, took social media by storm last year. This year, a new sweet treat emerges as a trend: the studded strawberry, which promises to dominate Brazilian feeds.
The difference between the two lies in the preparation. The studded strawberry also uses white chocolate fudge around the fruit, however the caramel syrup is made separately, broken into small red crystals and mixed with a layer of melted white chocolate that coats the fruit.
Those who have tried the new treat report that it is softer to bite, less cloying, and has a sprinkled crunchy texture. It is precisely this crunchiness that gave rise to the name "studded."
Nutritionist Priscilla Primi states that both are "calorie bombs," but the love strawberry has slightly fewer calories, as it doesn't have the layer of white chocolate on the outside.
