Food Waste Prevention Plan

The Government of the Azores made available, through its portal, a baseline structure for the development of food waste prevention plans. This tool is intended to help various entities implement practical measures to reduce food waste.

The establishments covered by this initiative include restaurants, food retail and wholesale companies, catering companies, and agri-food industries. All these sectors can now use the structure provided by the Regional Executive to develop their own prevention plans.

The main objective of this measure is to provide a guiding model that allows economic operators to create plans adapted to their specific activities, promoting more efficient management of food resources and contributing to the reduction of the environmental impact associated with food waste.

Livre respects Constitutional Court decision, but maintains criticism of asylum law

The Livre party announced that it respects the decision of the Constitutional Court that considered constitutional the norms of the diploma on granting asylum and return of foreigners, but reiterated its criticisms of the law. Deputy Paulo Muacho stated that the fact that the CC did not declare the law unconstitutional does not mean it is a good law, highlighting concerns about the possibility of detention and expulsion of migrant children. The party also believes there is room for political veto by the President of the Republic. The CC decision came after Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa requested preventive review of the decree approved by the Assembly of the Republic in July, which includes the extension of the temporary installation period to 180 days, possibility of separation of parents and children, and expulsion of minors.
