Augusto Cury defends reform in the STF and reassessment of January 8 sentences; see highlights from the interview

Writer and psychiatrist Augusto Cury, candidate for President of the Republic for the Avante party, participated in an interview conducted by CBN and newspapers O Globo and Valor Econômico this Friday (28). During the event, he presented his proposals for the country.

Cury defended the creation of new Municipal Guards to confront organized crime in Brazil. He also positioned himself in favor of integrating Brazilian police forces and greater training of the Federal Police. The candidate presented a project called Total Alert Force (FATO), which provides for the integration of the Federal Police with other security agencies.

Regarding political positioning, Cury avoided defining himself as left or right. During the interview, he stated that he will form a group of jurists to reassess the sentences of those convicted for the anti-democratic attacks of January 8, when hundreds of people invaded and vandalized the buildings of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), the National Congress, and the Presidential Palace in Brasília.
