Matosinhos requests 40 million euro loan to build 500 affordable rental homes

The Municipality of Matosinhos will request a 40 million euro loan to build 500 affordable rental homes, including a development exclusively for young people up to 35 years old. President Luísa Salgueiro announced that the request will be discussed at the next municipal executive meeting, emphasizing that the municipality will proceed without depending on the Government's "timing." Of the 40 million, Matosinhos will recover more than 20 million corresponding to the Government's 60% responsibility. The homes, all on municipal land, will be for affordable rental aimed at the middle class, with completion expected in three to four years. The loan will also be used to rehabilitate seven housing complexes totaling 1,173 homes not included in the PRR. The mayor also criticized the delays by the PSD/CDS-PP Government in transfers to municipalities, particularly regarding housing and school decentralization.
